Renewable Energy Landscape in Thailand: 2020 and Beyond

Renewable Energy Landscape in Thailand: 2020 and Beyond

Dear Alumni & Honored Guests,

"Thailand Integrated Energy Blueprint (TIEB)" Targets:
  • To reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20-25% from the business-as-usual scenario by 2030,
  • To meet or exceed 30% renewables in the energy mix by 2036.

Thailand currently relies on energy imports for more than half of its energy supply. Over the next two decades, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the kingdom faces a rise in energy demand by almost 80%, driven by population growth and continued economic growth.

Energy security is a top priority for Thailand. In 2015, the government implemented a 5-year vision focusing on "Stability, Prosperity and Sustainability". The Blueprint, which spans 2015-2036, combines 5 key energy plans covering power, oil, gas, energy efficiency and alternative energy development. Strategies have been designed to enhance energy security and meet long-term social and economic goals through improved efficiency and greater reliance on renewables.

We are looking forward to welcoming our alumni and guests to the event and to learning more about the challenges and opportunities within Thailand's Renewable Energy Landscape.

Warmest regards,

HBSATh Board.
